Mission San Luis Rey...Built in 1798, San Luis Rey is the Largest of the California Missions

Mission San Luis Rey, the King of the Missions and a jewel of San Diego County North. A National Historic Landmark founded in 1798, Mission San Luis Rey is the largest of the 21 California Missions and recently ranked first among the Seven Wonders of San Diego County North. In California the fourth graders read and learn about the missions. Each child picks a mission to read and write about. Riley picked Mission San Luis Rey. I had a chance to go on a field trip with him yesterday. What an amazing place. It was beautiful.

The quadrangle contains the first pepper tree in California.
Above is a small model of the mission.
